A mighty, mighty, mighty celebration is being planned on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at the Miami Beach Regional Library to honor Mitchell Kaplan. According to the official news release from the Miami Dade Public Library Foundation: "More than 60 leading local authors toast Books & Books owner Mitchell Kaplan for his nurturing of literacy in Miami-Dade County and his support of the Miami-Dade Public Library."
A few of the local authors have already contributed to the Books and Books commemorative online publication, Twenty-five: Edwidge Danticat, Michael Hettich, Geoffrey Philp, Adrian Castro, John Dufresne, Lisette Mendez, Mary Luft, Ricardo Pau-Llosa, Carolina Hospital, Pat Saunders, and Lester Goran.
